Waterfall hikes in Bali are some of the most breathtaking and worthwhile adventures in the world.

With more than 30 waterfalls throughout the island, most of the waterfalls in Bali are actually located in the central east. They’re all unique, with some waterfall’s hikes being easier than others. Additionally, some of the waterfalls are more popular than others.

It’s always best to read up before choosing your waterfall hike in Bali. It’s even better if you have a guide or group that you can travel with (like Drishti Journeys)! That way they can show you the best hikes and help you pick the best times of day to experience it.

In Bali, waterfalls are the perfect alternative to a day at the beach. This allows you a little exercise, with a rewarding cascade of cooling water at the end.

Whatever waterfalls that you end up deciding to visit, make sure you are fully prepared with proper footwear, clothing, water, and towels.

No matter which waterfall hikes you choose to experience in Bali, you’re going to love it! We promise.

The tallest waterfall in Bali originates from a sacred pool (just North of Ubud)!

Before you even get to the beautiful waterfall hike of Sekumpul in North Bali, you’ll actually love the drive. The sights and flora and fauna of North Bali are entirely unique. While most tourists stay in Southern Bali, you’ll still want to visit this waterfall early to beat the crowds. It’s well worth waking up to arrive before 11 am, you’ll be glad you did!

At a height of 80 metres (or 282 feet), this waterfall is massive! There are also several other lovely waterfalls and lush greenery nearby. It’s well worth the day trip to explore the surrounding area.

Sekumpul Waterfall

No matter what amount of time you want to dedicate - a couple hours or the whole day - a waterfall hike in Bali  is always a good idea.

Aling-Aling waterfall is Bali’s wildest waterfall hike adventure.

Have you ever dreamed of a 35 foot (10.5 metre) waterfall slip and slide? Well, that's exactly what you get with North Bali’s Aling-Aling waterfall hike. Unsurprisingly, this hike is a bit more intensive than some of the others. You’ll walk through rice fields, and climb lots of steps up and down.

Very excitingly, this waterfall hike in Bali is close enough to some of the others in the North. This means that you can make it a day trip and visit a few of the other surrounding falls as well.

A few more notable waterfall hikes in Bali that you need to visit.

In no particular order at all, these cascades of water are a definite short-list for you to check out when planning which waterfall hikes to do while visiting Bali.

First up, Tegenungan waterfall in Ubud.

Situated right in Ubud, instead of in the mountains, this waterfall is a rarity. With beautiful lush greenery surrounding it, and a temple nearby as well. This waterfall is an easy must-see for anyone visiting Bali.

Next up, Jembong waterfall.

Located close to Bali’s most famous waterfall (GitGit waterfall), this waterfall is too often overlooked. It’s known to have special healing properties, and is often considered locally to be Bali’s best waterfall. Cacao trees also grow throughout the area, which makes for a unique experience and wonderful smell.

For an easy walk and lovely clear pool for swimming, check out Tibumana waterfall.

It’s incredibly close to Ubud, with only a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to the cascade. What more do you need?

And last but not least, there’s also Tukad Cepung in Bangli

And personally, this is one of our absolute top recommendations for the best waterfall photoshoot spot! Only 30 minutes from Tibumana waterfall, listed above, it is located in a cove. This makes the sun rays that shine in over the white cascade absolutely stunning.
